Edmonton Pride Festival 2015

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate both the unity and diversity within our local and international communities. In partnership with Edmonton’s Pride Festival, Metro Cinema is joining the Pride party with engaging and thought provoking LGBTQ films all month.

Bizarro: The Raspberry Reich

Metro Bizarro celebrates Pride with provocateur and enfant terrible, Bruce LaBruce, one of Canada’s premier directors. Mixing art and pornography in high form, The Raspberry Reich (also available in more explicit form as The Revolution Is My Boyfriend) is a brutal satire of terrorist chic that follows a young group of leftist radicals as they plan the kidnapping of a rich banker’s son. 

Crime: Bound

The first film co-directed by the Wachowski Brothers tells a noir story filled with sex and violence. Corky is a cool ex-con and apartment-building cleaner meets Violet, the quick-witted moll of a Mob money launderer. Violet falls for Corky, Corky falls for Violet, and the two women hatch a plan to swipe two million Mafia bucks - provided they can trust each other.

Global Visions Festival is thrilled to partner with the Edmonton Pride Festival for a special Pride Week screening of this Sundance and SXSW-winning documentary about the behind the scenes battle to overturn California’s ban on same-sex marriage. 

Tru Love

Restless by nature and wounded by the past, Tru is a serial bed-hopping lesbian who can’t commit to a relationship or a job. Then she meets Alice, a beautiful widow who comes to town to visit her daughter, Tru’s best friend Suzanne. Despite Suzanne’s attempts to sabotage the budding romance, Tru Love prevails.
