Graphic Content: A Comic Book Film Series 2011/12
Graphic Content is a film series new to the programming slate at Metro Cinema. With comic books and other examples of “geek culture” becoming more prominent in the mainstream, Graphic Content has as its aim to promote and explore the relationship between film and sequential art.
The idea is to promote cross-media literacy, showing films and pairing them with examples from comic books, graphic novels, and manga. Curators Matt Bowes, of Warp One Comics and Games, and Erin Fraser, of Metro Cinema, will introduce each screening, attempting to place the film in context with the greater geek culture canon. They will also curate a book list of thematically relevant titles, which will be available at Warp One. We hope that you’ll be able to join us for an evening of fun and adventure, and learn about the wide world of graphic literature! GRAPHICCONTENT.ORG
