What is Metro Digital Shorts?
Metro Digital Shorts is a live screening of short films, written, produced, directed, and performed by Edmonton’s best and worst up-and-coming cinematic sensations. Metro Digital Shorts is a chance for independent short filmmakers to get their work seen, adjudicated by professionals, get paid, win prizes, and be forced to make a second short. Loosely based on Channel101.com in LA and Metro TV in Edmonton, local producers submit their digital shorts to be shown at Metro Cinema. The audience acts as studio executives, voting to decide if the short is good enough for a command production of a second short, to be presented at the next installment of Metro Digital Shorts. If the short doesn’t get selected for a second installment, you’re free to try again. This is your chance to get your film shorts seen, to compete against other local artists, and to one day rule the world. Hosted by Mostly Water Theatre, produced by Metro Cinema, and adjudicated by Dave Clarke, Davina Stewart, and CBC Radio’s Peter Brown.
Important: All legal rights to your material remain with you. We reserve the right to reject any submission for whatever reason we see fit. Swearing is fine, nudity is fine, hate and degradation are not. Most important: Do this for yourself. Entertain yourself. If you try to figure out how to please other people, you’ll usually fail to do just that. For more information please contact Sam Varteniuk at (780) 686-5960 or samvarteniuk@hotmail.com.

Citadel renovations are ongoing, so Metro Cinema continues to screen in the Rice Theatre, just down the hall from our normal room. Until we return to the Zeidler, screenings will continue to be from video, and not from 35mm.
Also, all Silver Screen passes are good for 3 months past their normal date of expiry, to thank you for your patience.
