All screenings @ Zeidler Hall in the Citadel Theatre, 9828 - 101A Ave
The Found Footage Festival is a one-of-a-kind event that showcases footage from videos that were found at garage sales and thrift stores and in warehouses and dumpsters throughout the country. Curators Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher began collecting found videotapes in 1991 after stumbling across a training video entitled, Inside and Outside Custodial Duties in a McDonald’s break room. Pickett and Prueher host each screening in-person and provide their unique observations and commentary on these found video obscurities. From the curiously-produced industrial training video to the forsaken home movie donated to Goodwill, the Found Footage Festival resurrects these forgotten treasures and serves them up in a lively celebration of all things found. The 7 pm show will be Volume 2 and the 9 pm show will be Volume 3, each featuring an entirely different program. Tickets for each show are $10 for Adults & $8 for Students/Seniors and available at the door. Oh & Found Footage goes better with beer - so yes, beer will be served!
Highlights from Volume 2 (7 pm show) include:
- - Highlights from a cable access talent show called “Stairway to Stardom”
- - A collection of exercise videos featuring Marky Mark Wahlberg and O.J. Simpson
- - An instructional video for a terrifying cosmetic device known as Rejuvenique
- - 17 workplace sexual harassment videos, edited down to three minutes of just the best reenactments
- - A brand-new collection of exercise videos featuring Playgirl’s 1985 Man of the Year, a scantily-clad Angela Lansbury, and a guru who calls himself “The Laughing Yogi.”
- - An instructional video on how to toilet train cats
- Nov 15 (2008) @ 7pm
- Nov 15 (2008) @ 9pm
Highlights from Volume 3 (9 pm show) include:
Pickett and Prueher, whose credits include The Onion and the Late Show with David Letterman, recently directed the feature-length documentary, Dirty Country, (also screening at Metro this weekend) which won the 24 Beats Per Second Audience Award at the 2007 South By Southwest Film Festival.
Citadel renovations are ongoing, so Metro Cinema continues to screen in the Rice Theatre, just down the hall from our normal room. Until we return to the Zeidler, screenings will continue to be from video, and not from 35mm.
Also, all Silver Screen passes are good for 3 months past their normal date of expiry, to thank you for your patience.
