Call for Submissions: Reeling, a dance on screen film festival

Mile Zero Dance and Metro Cinema are co-presenting REELING, a dance-on-screen film festival to be presented as part of STEM Cell: the Subterranean Edmonton Media Arts festival, from Feb 11 – 13, 2010.

We invite dancers, choreographers, filmmakers and media artists to submit their recently completed dance-on-screen works.

REELING builds on the MZD FAVA LABA, a production and exhibition collaboration between MZD and FAVA that screened in Jan 2008. This will also be the second instance of STEM Cell, building on the first event in April 2007, a partnership between Metro Cinema, FAVA, and Latitude 53.

Mile Zero Dance Society (MZD) is a mainstay in the Edmonton arts community, playing an active role in interdisciplinary collaborations and audience development. MZD has become a voice for a generation of artists and audience members alike who are interested in merging dance with different art forms through artistic innovation and research.

Metro Cinema is a community-based non-profit society devoted to the exhibition and promotion of local, Canadian, international and independent film and video in Edmonton, Alberta. To this end, Metro exhibits an eclectic blend of film, video and media arts that would not otherwise screen in the city.

Here is the submission form. When submitting, please include a brief description of your work (including year of completion and original production format) as well as an artist's biography. Preview copies may be submitted on VHS or DVD only. Works must be submitted in final edited form. The works will be curated by a peer jury. Artists whose work is included in the program will be paid the IMAA rate for multiple film/video screenings. There is no submission fee.

The deadline for submissions is 5:00pm on October 1, 2009. Please send your submission to:
