And the Rest is Drag

Shot in Edmonton and featuring the Alberta Beef Drag King Troupe and T.L. Cowan, The Rest is Drag contemplates gender from the perspective of folks who consciously and politically queer their gender. Using an eclectic mix of performance footage, still photography, and interviews with drag kings, the film explores gender as a creative, performative, and political social practice.

Melisa Brittain, as a video artist, drag performer, activist, teacher and researcher, investigates the possibilities for resistance at the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, class and ability. Shani Mootoo was born in Ireland of Trinidadian heritage, is a fiction writer, visual artist and video maker. She lives in Toronto, Canada. Danielle Peers uses video, public speaking, research and activism to creatively engage with social justice issues relating to gender, sexuality and ability.
