This feature doc was written, directed and produced by Sherry White and set in rural Newfoundland. The film focuses on a young woman, Mitsy ( Meghan Greeley), a teenager that has been abandoned by her mother. She is left to be brought up by her mercurial grandmother (Mary Walsh), who is well-meaning but oppressive. Mitsy dreams of being a hairdresser, but her life takes a turn when her mother prone to both the bottle and the sex trade, returns to Newfoundland. It's a family made up of three wildly dysfunctional generations, always poised to clash. All the while, Mitsy is learning about her emerging sexuality and develops a crush on a local misfit who works at a fast food joint.

This screening is part of the larger thematic series:
Citadel renovations are ongoing, so Metro Cinema continues to screen in the Rice Theatre, just down the hall from our normal room. Until we return to the Zeidler, screenings will continue to be from video, and not from 35mm.
Also, all Silver Screen passes are good for 3 months past their normal date of expiry, to thank you for your patience.
