Graphic Content: The Rocketeer
USA 1991, 108 min, Digital, Dir: Joe Johnston

In Pre-War Los Angeles, Cliff Secord (Billy Campbell) is a stunt pilot/barnstormer who comes into possession of an experimental rocket pack designed by Howard Hughes and then stolen by mobster Eddie Valentine. With the help of his best friend, mechanic “Peevy” Peabody, Cliff uses the pack to assume the identity of “The Rocketeer” in order to defend the country from Nazi fifth columnists, not to mention impressing his Bettie Page - lookalike sweetheart, Jenny Blake (Jennifer Connelly). Adapted from the classic comic by the late Dave Stevens, The Rocketeer is a paean to the Saturday-morning matinee serials of yesteryear. Its Art Deco-inspired imagery and goodhearted nature recall a simpler time, when heroes were honest, and Nazis were punched off the tops of zeppelins.
