Edmonton Opera presents a screening of Topsy-Turvy in anticipation of their production of The Mikado on February 4, 7, and 9. This film depicts the often topsy-turvy relationship of composer Arthur Sullivan and librettist W.S. Gilbert who collaborated on fourteen comic operas in the late 19th century. Beginning with a modest start, the duo struggled to succeed until a visit to a Japanese exhibit in London inspired one of their greatest successes, The Mikado.
