In celebration of our 30th Anniversary, FAVA held their inaugural FAVA FEST & Awards Gala in March. Five new Awards of Excellence were awarded to local filmmakers with cash awards totalling $9000. Come on out and see these films on the big screen!

Outstanding Narrative Film or Video Under 40 min An ocean warrior bumps into his arch-villian opponent, one morning on the seashore; he faces a fork between vendetta and pardon: he opts for keeping fighting.

Outstanding Documentary Film or Video Under 40 min An observational video portrait of an Inuk elder that addresses the passage of time.
The High Level Bridge
Outstanding Experimental Film or Video Under 40 min Trevor drops his camera from Edmonton’s High Level Bridge in memory of those who’ve jumped.
Grimes Oblivion
Outstanding Music Video A dreamy video that explores the peculiarities of male sports culture as Claire Boucher (Grimes) interacts unscripted with various football players, fans and motocross people.
Love/Hate
Outstanding Long Form Any Genre Some guys could use a 1-UP in the game of love - for these three, it could be game over.
