Spirited Away (Sen to chihiro no kamikakushi)
Japan 2001, 125 min, 35mm, Dir: Hayao Miyazaki
English Dubbed

When Chihiro’s (Daviegh Chase) parents are turned into pigs by a mysterious curse, she ends up working for a witch named Yubaba (Suzanne Pleshette) at a very strange bathhouse in the Japanese countryside. Renamed Sen, the young girl helps the mysterious patrons of the establishment, which include the enigmatic No-Face and a river spirit named Haku. Will Chihiro be able to save her parents from the slop? Potentially Hayao Miyazaki’s greatest work, Spirited Away smashed box office records in Japan upon its release, garnering the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Fest. An absolute visual feast, stuffed full with Japanese mythology and imagery, this film is not to be missed.
