Join Metro Bizarro for a classic of both underground filmmaking and animation. Based on Robert Crumb’s eponymous comic, Fritz is one of the most daring films of the 70s. It is the first animated film to ever receive an X-rating and helped secure Bakshi’s (Heavy Traffic, American Pop) fame. Though notoriously disliked by Crumb (so much so he later killed the character), Fritz helped bring the underground to the mainstream and definitively proved cartoons were art and not just kids’ stuff.
