Rupert Pupkin (Robert De Niro) is a social misfit who fancies himself a stand-up comic, though he has no professional accomplishments or even performance experience. That’ll all change, he’s certain, if he can just secure a spot on the nightly talk show of Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis), a Carson-esque kingmaker and personality. Desperate, Rupert and similarly unhinged pal Masha (Sandra Bernhard) conspire to kidnap Jerry, holding him hostage in exchange for a featured spot on the show.

Jerry Lewis (1926 - 2017) was an American actor, comedian, singer, producer, director, screenwriter, and humanitarian who is known for his part part in a popular comedy duo with Dean Martin, as national chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and for his slapstick humour in films. Metro brings you his praised dramatic role in the recently restored The King of Comedy in tribute to the well-known entertainer.
