Park Memorial Funeral Home is proud to present the Canadian debut of the award-winning independent film, Getting Grace. The film is about a teenage girl, Grace (Madelyn Dundon), who is dying of cancer. Grace visits a funeral home to find out what will happen to her after she dies, but ends up teaching the reserved, awkward funeral director, Bill Jankowski (Daniel Roebuck), how to truly live—something he had long forgotten how to do. Grace is dying but through her sense of humor, she lives more fully than those around her. Through her journey, she teaches all of us how to live, how to have hope, and how to keep living with grace after a loss.
It is Park Memorial’s hope that this beautiful film and its message about living life to its fullest, while also talking openly and honestly about death, dying and grief, will be the start of an ongoing conversation that happens not just quietly behind funeral home doors, but openly between family members and friends.
Special guests in attendance. Panel discussion following each screening.
