Metro Cinema Society
Metro Cinema is Edmonton’s community movie house, dedicated to the presentation of film and video in many forms. We program and host over a thousand events each year at the historic Garneau Theatre.
Metro is seeking an Executive Director to coordinate the overall activities of the society. Metro’s Executive Director is engaged with the film community and the broader Edmonton arts community. The position supervises half a dozen full-time staff, and the ongoing operations of the Society. In liaison with an active and supportive Board of Directors and committees, the Executive Director sets a strategic course for the organization.
The successful applicant will possess a diverse understanding of communications, fundraising, human resource management, finance, and programming. The successful candidate will have significant management experience, as well as experience in the operation of a facility. The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of both the art and business of cinema.
This is a full-time, ongoing position with a starting salary of $60,000, with benefits. The work schedule is flexible, with most of the work happening during the week days, but some evening and weekend work will be expected.
