John Waters—beloved cult director—will be live and in the flesh at the Garneau Theatre, performing his new spoken word show “Devil’s Advocate” on October 28th!
This brand new, fast-moving, comedic monologue about today’s despair and diseases, and desires and desperations breaks through with an insane optimism that welcomes all audiences into a new dawn of depravity. He’s here to tell you how to reinvent the movie business, embrace stupidity in an intellectual way, and even go beyond the limits of sexual transgression. John Waters, the man the press has called “The People’s Pervert”, will mutate your madness into hope and lead you to a joyous delirious ever after.
Balcony tickets are $40, Floor tickets are $60, and VIP tickets (limited quantities) are $80.
VIP tickets include early access to the theatre, priority seat selection when doors open, a copy of the event poster signed by John Waters, a post-show “Group Therapy” session featuring an intimate Q&A, and a distanced selfie. *VIP seat selections are limited to the floor.
VIP ticket holders will gain early access to the theatre at 5:30PM, doors will open for floor and balcony ticket holders at 6PM, and the show will start promptly at 7PM. Be sure to arrive early as we anticipate the show to be busy and late entry will not be permitted.

Leading up to the show we have programmed a John Waters retrospective, featuring a selection of his iconic titles we’ll be screening throughout September and October, celebrating his directorial impact, legacy, and influence on film, pop culture, and art. Added content for these screenings to be announced.
