“It’s easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism.“
Writer and theorist Mark Fisher’s (1968 – 2017) highly influential text, Capitalist Realism: Is There No Alternative? makes a convincing case that capitalism has fashioned itself as the only practical economic system, and does so, from its first sentence, through discussing film. This series offers a snapshot of Fisher’s most-discussed films and will take viewers on a journey through modern and contemporary art that explores life and labour under capitalism.
Concordia bookstore “Bookish” will have copies of the book, Capitalist Realism, available for the public to purchase.
Guest programmed by Carolyn Jervis and Dr. Robin Willey.
