Nightclubbing

At the turn of the millenium, people danced. They danced to stay alive, to escape, to have an excuse to stay out all night. Late 90s cinema showed us that raves and underground nightclubs were where youth made life-changing decisions and navigated isolation on the eve of Y2K. This is a celebration of those moments and the style that made them memorable.

Paul Hanlon has been a Metro Cinema board member since December 2022. He’s an advertising strategist, has degrees in Film Studies and Cultural Studies, has worked for TIFF and the Reelout Queer Film and Video Festival, and occasionally makes music videos.
