Telling tales of hucksters, grifters and good old-fashioned con artists, this series takes a bitter and often darkly comic look at those who prey upon the vulnerabilities of a public desperate for a lift from the mundane. The wares they’re peddling may cause varying degrees of damage to society, but it’s a nasty delight to watch these serpentine swindlers slither.

 

About the programmer: A veteran broadcaster, programmer and communicator in Edmonton’s arts and culture sectors, Joe Hartfeil counts his past years in Metro’s darkened projection booth and the University of Alberta’s enlightening Film Studies program as formative times. When not at the movies, he’s usually cooking up some creative project or other and/or playing with his family at one of their many favourite parks across the city.
